Tooth Coloured Fillings
Small to medium sized cavities and small chips and cracks in teeth can be mended using tooth coloured composite resin. This material comes in a wide variety of shades so your new filling should blend in seamlessly with your natural tooth.
Unlike amalgam that is simply packed into a cavity, composite resin bonds strongly with the tooth, protecting it and sealing out infection-causing bacteria.
Composite resin doesn’t flex or change shape when it comes under pressure or when in contact with hot or cold. With a composite resin filling, your dentist will only need to remove the damaged portion of the tooth, leaving healthy areas intact. We can place composite resin fillings during a single visit and this durable restoration should last for several years before it needs replacing.
Porcelain Inlays and Onlays
If you have a larger cavity, for example in a back tooth then you might need an inlay or onlay. These are made from porcelain which a material that can restore strength and structure to your damaged tooth and is ideal when a composite resin filling wouldn’t be quite strong enough. Your porcelain inlay or onlay will blend in beautifully with your natural tooth, creating a restoration that is virtually invisible.
Porcelain inlays and onlays are indirect restorations that are made in a dental laboratory so you will need two visits to our dental practice to complete treatment. While your restoration is being made, we will protect your tooth with a temporary filling.

The porcelain used to make inlays and onlays is very strong so it should be a long time before we need to replace your restoration.
If you need more extensive restorative procedures such as crowns and smaller bridges, these can all be metal-free. The wonderful thing about these materials is their ability to closely replicate the appearance of natural tooth enamel, providing you with highly aesthetic restorations while protecting your teeth in the healthiest way possible.
Once your teeth are restored you will be ready to take centre stage.
